Jack and the Beanstalk

EVENT Age:
Jack and the Beanstalk
Once upon a time there was a poor boy called Jack, who lived with
his mother and their only possession, a cow.
One morning, Jack’s mother told him sadly, “You need to go to the
market to sell our cow or we will not have enough money to buy food.”
On the way, Jack met a man who gave him some magic beans for the
cow. Jack’s mother was very angry and threw them out of the window.
The next morning, a giant beanstalk was growing in the garden.
Jack started to climb up the beanstalk and through the clouds, until
he reached a beautiful castle. He saw an enormous giant sitting at a table,
on which was a golden hen.
“Lay!” demanded the giant, and the hen laid a golden egg.
Soon the giant fell asleep. Jack grabbed the hen and raced
towards the beanstalk. The giant awoke and chased after him, shouting,
“Fee, fi, fo, fum!”
“Mother! Help!” Jack shouted in terror.
Jack’s mother took an axe
and chopped down the beanstalk.
The giant fell and crashed to the
ground, and nobody ever saw him
again.
With the golden eggs, Jack
and his mother lived happily ever
after.
